Laura Paray

Laura Paray's class concentrates on landscape and still life. Laura emphasizes on how light interacts with the subject and how to convey that on canvas. By using her plein air sketches, the student will be able to understand the colors in nature and learn how to mix those colors to create an atmospheric effect in a landscape. They will also learn to paint still lifes. As the north light hits the subject and will learn to recreate three dimensional objects on canvas

Laura started at the Ridgewood Art Institute when she was a child herself and has continued through the years. During her years with the Ridgewood Art Institute, she studied traditional oil painting primarily with John P. Osborne and Arthur F. Maynard.

She currently serves as the Education Chair of the Ridgewood Art Institute Board of Directors. Laura graduated Magna cum Laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Rutgers University and has also studied at the Art Students League in New York City. She has exhibited in the tri-state area and has won many awards for her oil paintings.
