In conjunction with this year's Sponsor Show,
accomplished illustrator, Robert J. Demarest, of
Hawthorne, author of “
Traveling with Winslow Homer:
America’s Premier Artist/Angler"
, will give a lecture and
slide show on
Sunday, May 4th at 1:30 pm in the
Ridgewood Art Institute gallery.  Mr. Demarest will discuss
his book, the result of an inspirational mission and
adventure, to follow in the footsteps of one of America’s
favorite artists, Winslow Homer; a journey that took him to
exotic destinations in pursuit of Winslow Homer’s painting
sites, as well as  his favorite places to fish. Mr. Demarest
documented the very places where Winslow Homer
painted, and fished, and compares them to Homer’s
painting compositions. In doing this, he has gained an
insight into Homer’s “uncanny ability to transmute these
scenes into masterpieces,” exclaims Mr. Demarest.

Don’t miss this exciting lecture -- admission is free to the
public.
