Dana DiMuro is a realist painter based out of Montclair, New Jersey. She’s a graduate of the Florence Academy of Art, and has studied at The National Academy, The School of Visual Arts, and The Arts Students League. After beginning her arts career as an illustrator, and working as a successful graphic designer and art director for many years, DiMuro decided to refocus her attention towards her first love of oil painting. She was drawn specifically towards portraiture and the effects of light and shadow on the human figure, and is studied in classical painting style inspired heavily by the Dutch Masters. Her work is intended to inspire those who see it to look more carefully at the world around them, to discover the beauty in nature, and to find meaning and poetry in everyday scenes.
She has participated in many solo and group shows, and has affiliations with art organizations such as the Portrait Society of America, American Woman Artist, and Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, where she serves as Board of Director Treasurer. Her work has been on display at the National Arts Club, Lyme Art Association, the Salmagundi Club, Ridgewood Arts, Manifest, and Uptown Gallery.
DiMuro also enjoys teaching, working with both youth and adult students. She incorporates her years of experience into the exacting and thoughtful method of study she applies to representational painting.
